Paper Lanterns

Baltimore, MD based Paper Lanterns combine sensitive storytelling with intricate rythyms and ornate guitar interplay. Existing somewhere between modern post-hardcore and the twinkle-core of 90s midwest emo, the band pulls from equal parts radio punk and sheer collaborative experimentation.

Guitarist and vocalist EJ Boutieller enlisted long-time collaborator Joshua Hursey (formely of Sharptooth) on drums and fellow B-more art rocker Taylor Kracher (Lean Tee) on bass to fill out his early demos.

The new trio is raising eyebrows with their unique take on emotional hardcore, playfully combining gut-punch, driving compositions with serpentine riffs and an unabashed reverence for 2000s pop culture.
